Purpose

The Remember the Miners Scholars Program was created in 2011 to provide support to miners, dependents of miners, those in mining families and those pursuing higher education or additional job skills in the mining industry. Scholarships awarded range from $1,500 to $5,000 and are awarded twice a year (Spring and Fall).

Criteria

Applicant must be a dependent of a mining family, a miner or former miner. We are accepting applications from those who are interested in pursuing a career in a mining industry related field. Scholarships aren’t exclusively awarded to those pursuing a four-year collegiate education; those enrolled in community college, technical school, or job skills programs are also eligible. To be considered, applicant must submit application and all relevant materials online or by mail.

  • Applicant must complete the online application or attached application
  • Applicant must attach an essay of 250 words stating the importance of the coal industry and its future in America
